Jeez, I can't express my undying love for my freakin' tablet enough!!! so well, third digital portrait, tom hiddleston this time. he just has such a pretty face, I couldn't resist
I may post a WIP in my scrapbook, though....
I started this one today (free day, YAY, have to work again tomorrow though u_u), so it took me maybe 5 hours total...
Vision: This piece is absolutely gorgeous. ♥ The colors -- especially on the lines -- are distinct but soft enough that they don't look out of place. You are masterfully balancing on the line of realism -- something often attempted but rarely achieved with quite this skill. I definitely want to applaud you for your choice of picture/pose. It's a very good base.
Originality: The half-face portrait definitely works to draw attention to his eye, but is quite different, as most people tend to draw him from the shoulders up -- from what I've seen. There aren't a lot of elements which make it directly unique, but the way you present it... I find it very refreshing.
Technique: Not seeing a lot of problems here, besides that his ear doesn't seem as detailed as the rest. I like the lock of hair, though I would personally like more attention drawn to it. I especially love the detail on his eye -- I can't get enough of it. And the cheekbone -- I know those are hard, I've tried drawing them, but you manage to do it very skillfully. Perhaps the shading is a bit shallow above the lips and between the eye and the nose? Something there doesn't quite seem dark enough to me.
Impact: MASSIVE. It's a stunning piece and I love it. I saw this and was automatically drawn to look at the full version -- which definitely didn't disappoint. ♥
The only critique I could give is that his ear looks a tad exaggerated on how far out it sticks in proportion to the strait on direction he is facing. Quite a stunning piece.
The eye(s?)---STUNNING. This is absolutely gorgeous. I love the style you've done him in. He's really beautiful, just as in real life. Thanks for sharing him---he is really, really lovely. I just love him.
